You would have had to be hiding under a rock for the last week to have missed the fashion frenzy that was London Fashion Week. Our magnificent capital played host to the twice-yearly event where we can feast our eyes on what we’ll be wearing next season and coveting from now until then.
A true celebration of what our creative nation has to offer, this year’s show was one of the most successful to date. It’s great to see a mix of designers all showing alongside each other in London; new generation home-grown talent such as Meadham Kirchhoff, Roksanda Illincic and House of Holland with established fashion houses such as Burberry and Vivienne Westwood Red Label (a Stripes favourite) makes for a diverse variety of collections.
Florals at Erdem
Prints were the order of the day as London embraced bright coloured ethnic-inspired patterns, particulary well executed at Peter Pilotto and Matthew Williamson. Beautiful powder blue, lilac and yellow florals in 50′s inspired silhouettes at Erdem were well received too – providing a perfectly wearable summer collection.
Backstage at Designers Remix
Despite the vast range of designers and fabulous styling throughout the week, we were waiting with baited breath for the Designers Remix presentation. Jenny and Emma had the opportunity to see the collection last month whilst they were buying and had reported back on lots of beautiful things (and had warned us to start saving now!) There is nothing quite like seeing a perfectly styled show, with outfits worn as they were designed to be. The real treat was the colours that Charlotte Eskilden has created – nude, aqua and lemon yellow colour blocked alongside monochrome make for a fresh take on summer dressing, whilst the experimentation with shape reinforces the brand’s now signature look – ultra-streamlined trousers and pencil skirts balance out voluminous draping. It’s definitely a collection to look out for come 2012! We’ll have it here so watch this space.

Yes, it’s that time again, the fashion world is already looking forward to Spring/Summer 12. Whilst this may seem far off to you and I, our favourite designers have been working away creating the must-have looks we will be sporting next year – and fashion week is where they showcase their creations.
Copenhagen Fashion Week ran from Wednesday to Saturday last week and kicked off the fashion week season in style. As you Stripes Fashion fans know, Danish designers hold a special place in our heart! Their ability to capture the artful Scandinavian style whilst exuding an effortless cool allows our customers to discover something fresh and different compared to much of the British High Street. This time around was no different – highlight’s included long-time Stripes favourites Brunns Bazaar, Charlotte Eskildsen’s Designers Remix and the one and only By Malene Birger

What was so great about the collections for Spring/Summer next year was the use of colour.
